Pain control, breathing exercises and movement when the team considers it appropriate are parts of the recovery plan. Chest drain removal and discharge timing are individualized.
Care at home
Follow discharge instructions for wound care, activity, medication and follow-up appointments. Contact your treatment team for new or increasing breathlessness, a high fever or significant changes at the wound. Seek emergency help for sudden severe breathlessness or severe chest pain.
